The host hotel for TRIRI® 2009 has yet to be selected. Packet pick-up will be held there the evening before the ride starts; see the Participant Information Newsletter for details. No packets will be mailed prior to the ride.
For those interested in reading about the Lincoln Boyhood Memorial and the community of New Harmony before we visit them on TRIRI®, we recommend the following resources:
Websites (each will open a new browser window)Parking for the week will be at a location to be determined. The $7.00 TRIRI® week-long Parking Permit is required for this service. We are providing a place for you to leave your vehicle for the week, but neither TRIRI® nor the Indiana DNR is responsible for the safety of your vehicle, as is noted in the waiver.
All state parks gate entry and group camping fees are covered by your TRIRI® registration. TRIRI® group campsites are located near shower facilities. All vehicles parked overnight at the tour campsites must display the special permit for registered drivers.
Please check back for more information closer to registration.
A bicycle mechanic will accompany TRIRI® with a rolling shop to make bicycle repairs both on the road and in the campgrounds (charging for labor and parts). If you're flying to Indiana, you can ship you bicycle to our mechanic at the shop for assembly. Contact him well in advance to discuss the details and fees for this service.
TRIRI® provides campers with baggage transportation to each day's destination. Unfortunately, due to staffing limitations, we are not able to transport luggage into nearby towns for riders who find lodging there. If you plan to use hotels, bring a small backpack to take a change of clothing and toilet supplies with you to your hotel, leaving the rest of your gear on the baggage truck.
Massage therapy will be available during the week; check back for more information.
Any type of bicycle in good working condition is welcome on TRIRI®. Though most of our participants ride road bikes, many with hybrids, recumbents, trikes, and tandems complete our tours successfully. Our 2008 route is rolling to hilly, so be prepared to pace yourself, and be ready for some climbing. We find that many people enjoy the lower gears provided by a triple crankset in our terrain.
Plan to carry items you will need during the day's ride, and to eat lunch at a location of your choosing along the route each day. Luggage is limited to two duffel bags (no hard plastic containers allowed) not to exceed a total maximum weight of 50 lbs. per person. All items must be inside these bags, and they must have the official TRIRI® baggage tags that will be in your registration packet. Do not bring valuables or items easily damaged by water. Bicycling helmets are strongly recommended! Make sure they are CPSC approved and properly adjusted to fit your head. Riders must be in good physical condition and trained sufficiently for this event.
